Rule of the House

Game Cancellation
  • Cash games

In the event of disruption in a cash game, where a hand of poker needs to be cancelled, each player’s table balance will be returned to the amount they had at the start of that hand. All bets placed will be void.

  • Tournaments

Occasionally tournaments do not run or are interrupted. If you have registered for a tournament which we cancel you will be refunded the total cost of the tournament plus any entry fee.

If we cancel a tournament after it has begun, we will follow the following guidelines:

Players eliminated before cancellation: no refunds

Players who were still in the tournament when it was cancelled: as follows

1. Before players reach the prize money:

Buy-in and entry fee refund.

50%  of the remaining prize pool shared equally among all of the players.

50% distributed according to chip stacks at the time of cancellation.

2. When players reach the prize money:

All players receive the prize associated with the number of players that remain in the tournament. For example, if there were 8 players left when the event cancelled, all players receive 8th place prize amount.

The remaining prize pool is distributed according to chip stacks.

Table Etiquette

Collusion occurs when 2 or more players attempt to influence the game by sharing hand information, and/or by telling others how they should bet.  Any players found guilty of collusion will be excluded from all games, and will have their accounts terminated.  Please help keep our poker room clean and fair, and report any suspected collusion to support.

Keep the chat clean and friendly. No excessive swearing or racist remarks of any type will be tolerated.  We reserve the right to terminate your chat privileges at any time.

Please respect the game, and other players, by avoiding purposeful slow play.

Disconnection Rules

Should a player lose their connection to the Internet (disconnect) and fail to regain connection again before time runs out to complete his or her turn, he may be entitled to 'disconnect protection'. In this case, the hand will be treated as being all-in. If that happens, the player cannot make further bets during this round, nor can he win any more money from his opponents than is already in the pot.

To receive 'disconnect protection', the player must be on a real money limit cash-game table and 'disconnect protection' must be available on his account. If a 'disconnect protection' is used, it is deducted from his account. A player can receive more 'disconnect protections' by applying in the Breakout Poker lobby, or by contacting the support team. Please note that Breakout Poker reserves the right to restrict these at its own discretion.

Split Pots

In the event that a pot cannot be shared exactly down the middle, and there’s an odd chip left, the following rules will apply;

Texas Hold'em and Omaha: The extra chip will be awarded to the player who made the last bet on the river, or the player sitting to the left of the dealer if no river bets are made.

Omaha Hi Lo: The winning high hand receives the extra chip.

Antes and Blinds

Ante

An ante means that each player must place a certain amount before the start of each game.  This is usually found in tournaments as the blind levels increase beyond a certain level.

Blinds

In games with community cards, like Hold’em and Omaha, there are usually two blinds; the Small Blind and the Big Blind. The value of the Big Blind is set at the lower limit of the table and the Small Blind is generally half of the Big Blind. The player to the left of the dealer button is the Small Blind, and the next player is the Big Blind.

These blinds are counted as the first betting round and are considered as "live", which means the player’s can still make the decision to raise when it is their turn to act, even if no other player has chosen to do so.

Betting action pre-flop starts with the player to the left of the Big Blind, and in all subsequent rounds action stars with the player to the left of the dealer.

Betting Limits

In Hold’em and Omaha limit games, the lower limit is used for the first two betting rounds, and then the higher limit is used on the turn and river.

In 7 Card Stud the lower limit is also used for the first 2 betting rounds, but if a pair appears on 4th street players have the option to immediately use either the lower or the higher limit amount to start the betting.

In limit games there up to 3 raises allowed before the bet is “capped” until the next card appears.  When 2 players are heads-up there are an unlimited number of raises.
